Delhi Student Who Shared Live Location Buried in Building Collapse

NEW DELHI — A 26-year-old law student who chillingly shared his live location with family before being trapped under a collapsed Delhi coaching center building was laid to rest Thursday amid mounting public outrage.

Shreya Yadav was among three civil services aspirants who died after a basement library at Rau’s IAS Study Circle in Old Rajinder Nagar flooded following heavy rains on Saturday evening.

The tragedy has sparked intense nationwide protests from students demanding accountability for municipal negligence and safety violations by commercial coaching establishments operating in residential areas.

According to grieving family members, Yadav’s final messages detailed the terrifying moments as water rapidly filled the subterranean study hall. “My body was numb,” relatives recalled her last frantic communications before signals cut out.

Investigators revealed that the building’s drainage system was severely compromised and the basement was illegally utilized as a library rather than for parking or storage. Municipal authorities have since sealed several unauthorized coaching centers across the capital.

Police have arrested the owner and coordinator of the coaching institute on charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder.

Meanwhile, student unions vow to continue demonstrations outside administrative offices, demanding strict regulatory enforcement to prevent similar urban tragedies.
