Indian Auto Retail Sales Surge 31% in September Driven by Festive Demand

NEW DELHI — Indian automobile retail sales surged 31.82% year-on-year in September, fueled by robust consumer demand during the early festive season, data released by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA) showed on Monday.

According to Reuters, total retail sales across all vehicle segments reached unprecedented heights last month. The sharp increase highlights a broad-based recovery in consumer spending across the world’s third-largest automotive market.

FADA reported that passenger vehicle sales grew significantly. Two-wheeler registrations also witnessed a massive double-digit jump. Improved vehicle supply chains and attractive financing schemes aided the retail expansion.

Dealer inventories remained at elevated levels following the massive stock push. Industry leaders expect the upcoming weeks to maintain this positive sales momentum.

The festive period traditionally accounts for a major share of annual automobile purchases in India. Strong September results often signal a highly profitable quarter for major automakers and local dealerships.

Market analysts will closely monitor October delivery figures to gauge the sustainability of this retail boom.
